Harry Hopcroft has been a Technology Management consultant since January, 1996. Prior to that time, he worked in industry and government for 25 years, including 15 years in computers and education. As well as his technical skills, Mr. Hopcroft holds an undergraduate degree from Brown University, in Providence, R.I.and an MBA from Adelphi University, in Garden City, N.Y.

Mr. Hopcroft is a manager with technical skills who has assisted individuals and businesses introduce technology to their work or improve the quality of the technology they were already using. Because of a strong background in education, Mr. Hopcroft has also worked extensively in the private and public school sectors on strategic planning, technology planning, network design, network installation, and planning implementation.

Recent professional credits include:

  • Redesign of the campus network at Chewonki Foundation, Wiscasset, ME, including installation of an Ethernet network with leased line connection to the Internet.
  • Network design for a new research and classroom center at Chewonki Foundation.
  • Design and implementation of the Community of Learners network, a wide area network connecting all of the schools in five towns and two school districts.
  • Writing the grant request that funded the Community of Learners network.
  • Preparation and implementation of a school-wide Technology Plan for Winthrop Public Schools, Winthrop, ME, including campus networks and town-wide interconnections between the campuses.
  • Network support and installation in Richmond Public Schools, Richmond, ME.
  • Hardware and software selection, as well as network design and implementation, for numerous individuals and small businesses.
  • Writing a manual for the Maine Internet Education Consortium called Support Package for Designing and Implementing Local- and Wide-area Networks. Assisting with two other books in the series.
  • Writing a complete Training Guide and Template for Community Technology Planning.
  • Website implementation, and performance monitoring for small businesses.

Mr. Hopcroft is a member of the Professional Consultants of Maine and Business Networks International. He represents no manufacturer or vendor of hardware or software products, so is free to find the technology solution from any source that best fits his clients' needs. He works alone, or in partnership with architects, engineers and other professionals to provide clients with highly personalized, but standards based technology solutions.
